Kindergarten is open to children who are 5 years old by September 1st.  This program continues the physical, social, and spiritual growth of the child.  Emphasis is placed on Religion, Language Arts and Math.  The children also experience Art, Music, Library, Computer, and Physical Education.  Classes are held daily in a full day session from 7:50 a.m. to 2:25 p.m. or a half day schedule from 7:50 a.m. until 11:30 a.m.

Kindergarten is considered the first school experience.  Recognizing that many children have been exposed to preschool, we still consider Kindergarten to be the preparation for a serious school experience.  The Sacred Heart Kindergarten experience is about an introduction to work habits and structure.  We use Religion, Language Arts, Math, Science and Social Studies to begin the development of the life-long skills a student will need to be successful.  Within this structure, we recognize that play is an integral part of learning so we incorporate play and hands-on manipulation into our daily program.  We are fortunate to be able to teach the whole student, mental, physical, and spiritual, here at Sacred Heart School. We strive to touch all learning styles, in this beginning experience, recognizing the individual gifts and talents God has endowed to each child. Each month we focus on a sign of the season such as Apple Day in September, Snow Study in January, and Butterflies in May.  The signature event of Kindergarten comes at the end of the year with a community exploration.  We develop an understanding of our place in our immediate community through an in-depth tour of our neighborhood as well as an introduction to our place in society with a look at service missions around the world.
