The People Respecting Others (P.R.O.) Award all started about six years ago, with the idea of promoting good manners and courtesy among the SHS community and to encourage Responsible Citizenship, which is part of the SHS mission. Each month, one student from each grade who has shown an extra amount of courtesy or concern is selected by their teacher as the PRO Award recipient and is recognized for this accomplishment after the school Mass on Friday The PRO award is gaining enough momentum among the student body that students strive to be the selected. There are extra efforts made in holding doors, helping carry cumbersome loads, assisting young students and using courteous language. While the SHS students would most likely be this gracious and kind without the lure of free ice cream and a fancy certificate signed by the principal, a little grease on the wheel never hurts.
