Both Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts provide opportunities for boys aged 7-18 to learn new skills, make new friends, and learn to work together as a group. Both include programs that build character and good citizenship, and provide opportunities to appreciate the great outdoors.  Scouting develops a boy both physically and mentally, and in knowledge, constitution, and character.

Scouting has been part of Sacred Heart since the third pastor, Rev. Martin Steffy, started an unofficial troop in 1913. First officially chartered with the Boy Scouts of America in 1918, Troop 24 has been continuously chartered at Sacred Heart Parish since 1920.

Cub Scout programs are for boys in grades 1 through 5, aged 7-10. Boys at the highest level of Cub Scouts, Webelos, typically transition into the Boy Scout Troop in the middle of their 5th grade year.
Boy Scouts is open for any boy who has completed 5th grade, or is age 11-18, or has completed the Arrow of Light (a Webelos award) and is at least 10.  Any boy can join Cubs or Boy Scouts at any time; you don't have to have been a Cub to be a Boy Scout, or have been in Cubs from the start of 1st grade, etc.

Our Boy Scout Troop enjoys weekend and long-term camping (Summer Camp) as well as excursions that include cycling, rock climbing, snow-tubing, canoeing, hiking, archery, and more.  Cub activities include the ever-popular Pinewood Derby and Raingutter Regatta (model car and boat races), arts and craft activities, and some family-oriented camping.
